Khabib Nurmagomedov's father denied entry to United States for UFC 209

Khabib Nurmagomedov says father Abdulmanap is in ‘very serious condition’ due to COVID-19

Khabib Nurmagomedov has confirmed his father Abdulmanap is in serious condition in the hospital due to COVID-19.

Reports have been swirling around Russian media that Abdulmanap was in a coma and in serious condition to the virus. Since those came out, the likes of Dana White and Conor McGregor wished him well. Now, Khabib has publicly confirmed what reports have been saying that his father is in serious condition in a Russian hospital.

“A lot has been written about my father on the Internet. He’s in the hospital now, he’s in a very serious condition. He had heart complications stemming from the virus,” Khabib said in an Instagram video (translated by RT Sport). “This virus has very seriously affected his heart, since he had a heart operation a year ago. He’s had surgery again. He’s in a difficult situation, very difficult.  We ask Allah to return him to us. Thank you very much to everyone who writes, who sends their support. May Allah help us all.”

It is obviously a difficult time for Khabib as he and his father are incredibly close. Abdulmanap coaches Khabib and often comes up with the game plans for the fights and shares it with Javier Mendez.

Khabib Nurmagomedov says people need to take the virus seriously as he says it has impacted his family seriously.

“Personally, I’ve had more than 20 relatives – I don’t mean people I know, I mean close relatives – who have been in intensive care. Many people I know have died, the parents of people close to me. This virus has affected everyone. This virus doesn’t ask what your surname or name is, this virus doesn’t ask where you work, if you are rich or poor Everyone has got ill. We can only overcome this together.”

The hope is Abdulmanap can survive the virus and return to full health very soon.
