Marcus Hardiman wins another title, ready for next step
Last time I saw Marcus Hardiman, he was in the cage taking care of business and winning the Art of War Cage Fighting amateur welterweight title.
I was expecting him to catapult from that impressive performance and throw his hat into the professional ranks. Unfortunately, world issues as well as your usual fighter headaches, have kept him on the sidelines.
Hardiman never stopped training or working. Marcus kept his eye on the future and continued studying and improving his overall game.

That improvement helped him to capture the Cage Wars amateur welterweight championship this past Friday in Schenectady, NY. Hardiman went the distance with Kenny Correa and had his arm raised and belt placed around his waist. MyMMANews reached out to chat with Marcus about his latest bout and what is in the near future. He tells us…
“I’ll be in the gym in about an hour and working. Don’t mind this mark on my face. I bruise easily and it’s only been two days. I would love to get back in there as soon as December. There was a previous opponent where we both thought we had a fight. It didn’t work out, so that may be a possibility.”
Marcus has a wrestling background and has been dominant in that area. One thing I loved is that he says as an amateur, they’ve been picking one area to try and concentrate on, and he and his team knows that will not be the case once he does turn pro. That should be early in 2024 as Hardiman keeps getting better and better. He knows that his striking is still evolving and is smart enough to not rush things as far as the next level. Whoever he does face, should be prepared to defend that serious double-leg and slam, which will always be a part of his repertoire.
