Sean O’Malley warns of Ozempic use – “I just don’t know if there’s enough science behind it”
UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is not a fan of Ozempic, a popular weight loss medication that has taken the nation by storm.
Ozempic is an FDA-approved prescription medication — taken by injection in the thigh, stomach or arm — typically used to help lower blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes. It’s the brand name for semaglutide, which stimulates insulin production and also targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite, according to the FDA.
“I mean, I don’t know enough about it,” O’Malley said on his podcast (around the 38-minute mark below). “I’ve witnessed people that I know on it and they definitely lose a lot of weight.”

“I don’t think you should get on it, I really don’t. I just don’t know if there’s enough science behind it to get on that.”
“I think it f***s you up in more ways than just turning off the f***ing sensors in your brain… Let’s just [do some] good old fashioned hard work… Yeah, good old fashioned hard work is the answer to that, buddy.”
