Stamp Fairtex addresses Conor McGregor supporting Ritu Phogat

Stamp Fairtex responds to Conor McGregor voicing his support for Grand Prix finals opponent Ritu Phogat.

The Irish superstar took to Twitter a few days ago on Diwali to announce his love for Indian culture. By proxy, retweeting a photo of Ritu Phogat en route to the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix finals and showing his support for The Indian Tigress.

Speaking with SCMP MMA’s Nick Atkin, Stamp stated, “I feel glad for her, it’s a good thing. If I were Ritu, I would feel like, ‘Oh, this is the biggest MMA superstar in the world. Conor McGregor, he goes on Twitter and supports me’. I don’t feel anything bad about it on my side, I would say it’s nice for her.”

Stamp is carving out quite a legacy in ONE Championship. One that could possibly see her capture gold across three different combat disciplines.

The former ONE Muay Thai and Kickboxing titleholder aims to capture this Atomweight Grand Prix belt in mixed martial arts competition.

Both of the semi-final fights in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix transpired at ONE: Next Gen on October 29th.

Stamp Fairtex punched her ticket to the finals via unanimous decision in the main event against grand prix alternate Julie Mezabarba. The comprehensive Muay Thai game and ever-improving submission grappling skills of Stamp shone through across the full bout duration.

In that evening’s co-feature, Ritu Phogat jettisoned towards the last stage of this grand prix. This came in a victorious effort against Jenelyn Olsim.

The hard-fought win came via unanimous decision with Phogat showcasing her high-level grappling game. As well as emerging ground and pound skills.

Stamp Fairtex and Ritu Phogat are reportedly set to test skills on December 3rd.

Stamp Fairtex is presently the number two ranked atomweight contender while Ritu Phogat is situated at number four.
