UFC heavyweight contender Tai Tuivasa reacted following his loss at UFC Paris, saying it was “probably one of the best crowds I’ve ever performed in front of.”
Tuivasa was a massive underdog against Gane, but he performed admirably in defeat. After losing the first round, Tuivasa was able to knock Gane down and nearly finish him in the second. However, Gane recovered, and Tuivasa was eventually stopped by strikes in the third round, seeing his five-fight win streak snapped in the process. Still, it was an incredible fight, and the amazing fans in Paris made the moment all the more special.
Taking to his social media following the fight, Tuivasa had nothing but positive things to say about Gane and about fighting in Paris, in particular. Check out what Tuivasa posted here.
“Shoutout to Ciryl, he was better than me last night. Or whatever night it was haha. Probably one of the best crowds I’ve ever performed in front of. The fans were crazy. Appreciate all the love. Shoutout to my team, my family that all came over. We’ll be back,” Tuivasa said (h/t BJPenn.com).
For Tuivasa, losing to Gane means he won’t be fighting for the title in his next fight, but he remains one of the top-five heavyweights in the sport today. For his next outing, it will be interesting to see who the UFC matches him up against. One potential foe could be Sergey Pavlovich, who is coming off of a knockout win over Derrick Lewis, who Tuivasa defeated earlier this year for the biggest win of his MMA career to date. Either way, regardless of who Tuivasa fights next, he’s a fan favorite and, win or lose, he’s always must-watch television.
What do you think is next for Tai Tuivasa following his loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Paris?
