Dana White, Yair Rodriguez

[VIDEO] Dana White gives mysterious update on featherweight Yair Rodriguez

Watch here UFC president give a update about featherweight top contender Yair Rodriguez. Dana White spoke at the UFC Vegas 15: post-fight press conference sharing his thoughts and giving a eerie answer to a reporters question about Yair.

Yair Rodriguez (13-2 MMA), who was initially booked to face Zabit Magomedsharipov in August was forced to pull out of the bout due to injury. Since then, nothing has been announced regarding rescheduling the bout or who Rodriguez could potentially face next.

Reporter: Yeah. He’s posting on social media that he’s training fully now and that he’s totally recovered from the injury.
White (to UFC crew offstage): Have we not talked publicly about that? Why not? Yeah. Huh? (To reporters) I don’t think he’s going to fight soon.
Reporter: Is he hurt?
White: No.
Reporter: Does it have to be so mysterious?
White: We didn’t announce it. I don’t know why we didn’t, but yeah. I don’t know what the deal is. It’s actually none of my business what’s going on there. So when it comes out, it will come out.
Reporter: Is this now Hunter Campbell’s business?
White: No. It’s none of our business. None of the UFC’s business. When they figure it out, they’ll let us know.
Reporter: Did he decline the offer to fight?
White: Did he? No, that would be my business. Any other questions? Good night. Thank you.

“Have we not publicly talked about that?” White asked a member of his crew. “I don’t think he’s gonna fight soon.” he responded.

What could this possibly mean?  Hopefully, we can get a follow-up from Rodriguez soon so we can know exactly what’s going on there.

Multiple questions he choose not to give any details when asked if this was due to Rodriguez declining a fight White quickly shut that down and quickly became evident that this was not the case.

This whole segment from the president of the UFC was just strange and very eerie. Hopefully this is not anything serious and can cleared up in the coming days.

Rodriguez is coming off a victory against Jeremy Stephens in October of 2019. This fight was a rematch of a bout that had happened earlier in the month initially ending in a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke. Rodriguez  is on a three-fight unbeaten run, his most recent loss came in the hands off Frankie Edgar in May 2017, After that Rodriguez would bounce back in spectacular fashion going on to defeat Chan Sung Jung with a last-second highlight reel KO.
