Who Will Win At WWE Money In The Bank 2021?

Who Will Win At WWE Money In The Bank 2021?

There used to be four “big” pay per views every year in WWE. Those pay per views were the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Summerslam, and the Survivor Series. A little over twenty years ago, the company realised it was far more profitable to run a pay per view every month, and that’s what they’ve done ever since. The pay per views that aren’t part of the “big four” are generally viewed as “B” pay per views, but there’s an exception. The annual Money in the Bank event, which sets up new challengers for the company’s biggest championships, is every bit as much of a big deal as Survivor Series or Summerslam.

WWE has amended its schedule this year, so Money in the Bank is coming earlier in the calendar than it usually does. It’ll air live from Fort Worth, Texas, on July 18th. Unusually for WWE, most of the card has been set several weeks out from the show. We know, for example, that Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Edge. We also know that Rhea Ripley will defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair. Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship is also on the line against Kofi Kingston. Those matches will provide some intrigue – and perhaps even a title change or two – but they’re not what the event is truly about. For the people watching at home and the fans buying tickets to be inside the arena, the show is all about the two Money in the Bank ladder matches.

Trying to predict the outcome of Money in the Bank ladder matches is never easy because WWE likes to surprise its audience. The chaotic, multi-participant matches are about as predictable as an online slots game. That’s an apt comparison to make when it comes to WWE because the company intends to launch a range of WWE-themed online slots to websites like Rose Slots Canada in the near future. One of them is said to be themed after Money in the Bank, which makes all the sense in the world. Even with the odds against us, we’re going to try to make some Money in the Bank predictions in this article. We can’t win money for them the same way we could with the online slots game, but we’ll take the satisfaction of being right!

First up, we have the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. As of the time of writing, we know that Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, Carmella, and Asuka will be in the match. That leaves three vacancies. The most glaring name missing is Bayley, but there’s a strong possibility that Bayley will end up facing Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship elsewhere on the card. Given WWE’s recent roster cuts, there aren’t many viable women who could fill the space here. Liv Morgan is currently in a feud with Carmella and almost has to take one of the spots by default. That will still leave us with one space, though. This might be a left-field prediction, but we haven’t seen Sasha Banks since her WrestleMania loss to Belair. This would be the perfect place for her to come back as a surprise.

There’s little chance of Belair dropping the title to Bayley, and she’s beaten most of the rest of the roster, so a rematch between Banks and Belair with Sasha cashing in her Money in the Bank contract would be a great attraction for Summerslam. If Sasha is in the match, we predict that she’ll walk away with the briefcase. We need to cover ourselves here, though, because of the chance that Sasha won’t be in the match at all. If that’s the case, we expect Alexa Bliss to win. She’s getting a strong push with her supernatural gimmick at the moment, and she has to get a title shot at some point. Her gimmick suits short matches, so having her suddenly appear to cash in a contract on one of the existing champions would work perfectly.

With the women’s match out of the way – with our apologies for cheating a little by making two predictions – we can turn our attention to the men’s match. The lineup for this one almost seems to have been finalised. Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, Drew McIntyre, and Big E occupy five of the eight spaces. Jimmy Uso is all but guaranteed to take one of the other ones. Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens have been promised one of the other spots, and we expect that to be Zayn. That still leaves two spots up for grabs, which might be taken by Rey Mysterio, Dominic Mysterio, or perhaps Shinsuke Nakamura. In this case, we don’t think the surprise entrant will be quite as important, because the winner is going to be someone who’s already in the match.

Ricochet’s sole purpose will be to perform high spots. It’s great for him to be in a big match on a major pay per view, but he’s not going to win anything. Drew McIntyre has already had multiple opportunities to regain the WWE Championship and has failed to do so. Riddle and Sami Zayn are comedy acts. Jimmy Uso winning and cashing in on his cousin Roman Reigns as a face turn would be an interesting angle, but we don’t think that’s how things are going to play out. Instead, we think Big E is going to win the contract and begin his long-overdue main event push. Big E should have been a world champion already but has been held back by remaining a member of New Day. That might come into play here. Imagine Bobby Lashley beats New Day member Kofi Kingston to retain his WWE Championship only for Big E to immediately cash in and win the title. That’s a red-hot angle and sews the seeds for a singles showdown between Big E and Kofi at Summerslam.

How confident do we feel about these predictions? Fairly – and “fairly” is about as confident as you can ever feel about predicting WWE pay per views. The most important thing is that this is the first pay per view to take place back “out on the road” with a live audience, which will make it a must-see event. We’ll be watching, and we’re sure you’ll join us!
