UFC on ABC 5 is coming along nicely, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship brass continues adding exciting match ups to the event.

UFC on ABC 5 is to go down on June 24, 2023, live from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Headlining the event is an epic featherweight clash between no. 5 ranked Josh Emmett and no. 9 ranked Ilia Topuria.

Also going down at this event is a welterweight bout between Neil Magny and Philip Rowe, another welterweight clash between Randy Brown and Wellington Turman, a middleweight bout between Brendan Allen and Bruno Silva, as well as the returns of David Onama and Gregory Rodrigues.

Last but not least of these mentions goes to a pair of women’s flyweights, as no. 11 ranked Amanda Ribas also faces no. 11 ranked Maycee Barber at this event.

Both of these ladies have done quite well for themselves since joining the world’s leading mixed martial arts promotion; Ribas coming over with a record of 6-1 that’s since been improved to 12-3, and Barber joining with a record of 5-0 that’s since been improved to 12-2.

Ribas went 4-0 through her first four bouts with the promotion prior to going 2-2 over her last four.

Though she lost to Marina Rodriguez and Katlyn Chookagian over her last four appearances, Ribas comes into the bout off a win over Viviane Araujo (UD). Her most notable victories come over Mackenzie Dern (UD), as she became the first woman to ever defeat Dern, and Paige VanZant (armbar).

Barber on the other hand went 3-0 through her first three bouts, securing TKO victories in all three appearances, before dropping her next two-straight. She has since won her last four-straight fights, two via unanimous decision and two via split decision, though both split decisions were heavily disputed.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
