James Yang makes second walk as a professional on Friday

One Championship newcomer, James Yang, will make his second walk to the circle on April 22.

Yang debuted as a professional fighter with the promotion last September at One Championship: Revolution. In his debut, he got the job done in the second round of the bout, defeating Roel Rosauro by way of a technical knockout.

Yang has made headlines not only for his potential in the sport but also for obtaining the status of Demetrious Johnson’s protege. Since working with Johnson at the AMC Pankration in Washington State, the two have become training partners and great friends, and Yang’s protege status under Johnson has created a lot of hope for the 32-year-old.

Johnson has shown great confidence in Yang’s abilities and potential. He recently told ONE Championship that fans can “expect a finish” and that “James is gonna be able to go out there and excel and perform.”

Yang (1-0-0), is undefeated not only as a professional but also racked up a 6-0-0 record as an amateur. However, to keep that winning streak alive, he will have to get through Malaysia-born Keanu Subba this Friday.

Subba (7-5-0) will be looking to obtain his eighth professional victory. Since signing with ONE Championship in 2015, Subba has gone 6-4 and is coming into this bout with consecutive losses.

The featherweight bout will open a fantastic night of fights for ONE Championship.

The card is topped with two title bouts. In the main event, ONE lightweight kickboxing champion Regian Eersel will put his title on the line against Arian Sadikovic, and in the co-main event, ONE strawweight Muy Thai champion Smilla Sundell will face Jackie Buntan.
