Jose Johnson talks upcoming UFC debut at UFC Vegas 70

Jose Johnson has fought more then your average fighter.

According to Johnson’s Tapology page, the 27-year-old had 34 amateur fights before turning in his current 15-7 professional record. However, Johnson said that Tapology didn’t account for all over his amateur fights as he fought in over 60 amateur fights before turning pro.

After all that experience in the amateur ranks, Johnson has gained a lot of experience as a pro as well.

He’s fought on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020 and then following that, he made a name for himself when posted huge wins over Mo Miller and Dulani Perry to earn another crack on the contender series.

While his first appearance didn’t go his way as he suffered a loss to Ronnie Lawrence, the second appearance would impressive UFC president Dana White, who gave Johnson a UFC contract following his win over Jack Cartwright.

Now after all that experience, Johnson is all set to make his long awaited UFC debut when he takes on Garret Armfield at UFC Vegas 70 on Feb. 25.

While many fighters have some jitters ahead of their debut, Johnson is relaxed and ready to go in which he credits his pose to the time he spends meditating.

Ahead of his debut, Johnson spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup with Armfield, the importance of meditating and long amateur career.
