ONE Championship: Unbreakable recap

ONE Championship: Unbreakable started off 2021 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This martial arts showcase featured many quality kickboxing and MMA bouts.

In the main event, Capitan Petchyindee Academy steamrolled defending titleholder Alaverdi Ramazanov less than two minutes into round two. In doing so, he captured the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Championship.

The first frame saw Capitan marching towards Ramazanov early with a dizzying array of boxing combos and slicing leg kicks. “Babyface Killer” tried his best to alleviate the pressure but Capitan pursued him fervently.

In the second stanza, Capitan sensed the finish and ramped up the volume striking on Ramazanov in the midrange. After another blistering combination, Ramazanov crumpled to the canvas. Ramazanov could not stand upright and he was counted out seconds thereafter.

In the featured MMA bout, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki put on a clinic against former ONE Welterweight World Title challenger James Nakashima in the latter’s lightweight debut. The #4-ranked lightweight mixed martial arts contender showcased his striking early on.

Aoki was landing strong kicks to the body as well as a right hand to the Nakashima’s head. Aoki got in tight and promptly locked in a body triangle from Nakashima’s back. He then sunk in the fight-ending submission and got the neck crank victory at just 2:42 into the contest.

In a ONE Super Series kickboxing bout, heavyweight slugger Rade Opacic put it on Bruno Susano in a lopsided TKO win at 1:11 of round two. Opacic sent Susano to the canvas with a debilitating body shot in the opening frame. Opacic finished things off in round two with the referee calling a halt to the bout.

Undefeated ONE Warrior Series pugilist Gadzhimurad Abdulaev dispatched former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam. He finished things by bringing Kadestam to the ground with a trip takedown. Abdulaev then swiftly took the back and worked on the submission. Kadestam would then tap to the crushing pressure of the first round face crank at 2:08 of Round One.

#2 atomweight contender Meng Bo lead the dance against former ONE World Title challenger Samara “Marituba” Santos en route to a unanimous decision win. Meng showcased her striking and submission grappling while Santos made an impression with her wrestling. This competitive contest went the distance and all three judges scored it in favor of Meng.

Also, Lito Adiwang put together an impactful performance to kick off the event. He halted Namiki Kawahara at 2:02 in round two of their strawweight opener. A left hook to the jaw spelled the end for Kawahara and signified the triumphant victory for Adiwang.
