A bantamweight bout between two top-15 bantamweights is being added to UFC’s first event of December.
First reported by The Athletic, the rising Merab Dvalishvili will meet Cody Stamann. The location of the bout is yet to be confirmed, although it is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dvalishvili is on a five-fight win streak after most recently beating John Dodson via unanimous decision at UFC 252 in August. After losing his first two octagon bouts to Frankie Saenz and Ricky Simon, Dvalishvili has responded by defeating Terrion Ware, Brad Katona, Casey Kenney, Gustavo Lopez and Dodson.
The Longo and Weidman MMA product is currently ranked No. 13 in the UFC’s bantamweight division.
Stamann returns to the bantamweight division after fighting back-to-back bouts at featherweight. The No. 12 ranked bantamweight split a win and a loss to two fellow bantamweights at 145 pounds though.
He most recently suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jimmie Rivera at UFC on ESPN 13 this past July. It came after a unanimous-decision win against Brian Kelleher at UFC 250 in June.
