Sam Alvey says he broke jaw in TKO loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC Vegas 59

UFC middleweight fighter Sam Alvey says he broke his jaw in his TKO loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk at this past weekend’s UFC Vegas 59 event.

Alvey was knocked out in the first round by Oleksiejczuk on the UFC Vegas 59 preliminary card. For Alvey, the loss marked his ninth straight fight in the Octagon without getting his hand raised — a new company record. To make matters worse, it appears that Alvey also broke his jaw in the fight.

Taking to his TikTok following the fight with Oleksiejczuk, Alvey admitted that the first punch from his opponent broke his jaw, and he is now expecting to get it wired shut in order to help it heal.

“I spent a lot of time last night thinking about this and I’ve finally accepted it myself. I hope y’all forgive me but I am not the greatest fighter to have ever lived. To tell you, it hurts saying out loud. Oh, goodness. I was convinced I could beat anybody at any time. I guess not,” Alvey said (via MMAJunkie.com). “I would still say there’s not a person on the planet that likes doing this sport more than me. Although at this current moment, I have a broken jaw from the first damn punch he hit me with. Son of a b*tch. I’m likely getting my mouth wired shut. I’ve got to tell you, I wouldn’t have picked a different career if I had the opportunity years ago.”

It will be interesting to see what is next for Alvey following this latest defeat. At this point, it would be very surprising to see the UFC give him another contract, so this might be the end of his run with the world’s leading MMA promotion. But despite all of the losses, Alvey still loves fighting, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land with another promotion in either MMA or in bare knuckle.

What do you think is next for Sam Alvey after losing by TKO to Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC Vegas 59?
