Robert Griffin Alexander, UFC judge

UFC judge charged with two child sex-related felonies

Robert Griffin Alexander, 49, a Texas MMA official with experience as a UFC judge, was arrested earlier this month on felony charges of aggravated sexual assault with a child and sexual contact indecency with a child.

MMA Junkie was able to obtain documents from the 10th District Court of Galveston County stating, “a Galveston County Sheriff arrested Alexander at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 14. He was booked into the Galveston County Jail in Galveston with his bond amount set at $40,000 for each offense. A bond hearing currently is set for Nov. 29.”

The report goes on to state, “Indictments signed by grand jurors from the County of Galveston were filed Oct. 13.

“On the first-degree felony charge of aggravated sexual assault, Alexander allegedly “intentionally or knowingly caused the sexual organ of (redacted), a child who was then and there younger than 14 years of age, to contact or penetrate the mouth” on or around Jan. 1, 2000.

“For the second-degree felony charge of indecency with a child with sexual contact, the indictment alleges Alexander engaged in sexual contact by touching the genitals of a child under 17 on or around Jan. 1, 2010.”

A profile page for Alexander has been removed from the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) website but it previously stated that he is an aerospace engineer who began MMA officiating in 2011 with a certification through John McCarthy’s COMMAND course. He has been licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, Alabama Athletic Commission and Tennessee State Athletic Commission. He has worked many events for notable promotions, including the UFC, Bellator and LFA, in addition to other regional shows.

Texas does not have a statute of limitations on crimes of a sexual nature.

Below is a screenshot grabbed from MMADecisions.com that shows a handful of bouts where Alexander worked as a UFC judge.
