Bryan Battle, UFC Vegas 47

Bryan Battle edges out Tresean Gore in the unofficial TUF 29 Finale

Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday Feb. 5th, 2022, with a pivotal Middleweight match up that will see No. 6-ranked Jack Hermansson look to snap the win streak of No. 7 ranked Sean Strickland.

In UFC Vegas 47’s co-main event, 185-pound finishers Punahele Soriano and Nick Maximov lock horns.

Bryan Battle (6-1) returns as The Ultimate Fighter 29 middleweight champion. He cruised to the final after a unanimous decision over Kemran Lachinov and submission over the favorite Andre Petroski.

Tresean Gore (3-0) suffered a meniscus injury before the fight which forced him out of the final. This is the second time UFC has scheduled this fight but this time won’t be the TUF Finale. He started the tournament with a unanimous decision over Ryder Newman and then pulled off the most impressive finish knocking out Urbina in the semi-finals.

Here’s how the fight played out round by round:

ROUND 1:

Referee in charge, Herb Dean. He’s going to have his hands full in this one, Gore and Battle going back and forth already when Buffer was giving the introductions. Early moments of the fight, Battle staying active, firing the leg kicks. Gore meanwhile stalking Battle against the cage. Battle staying at distance using his kicks to keep it at his range, Battle continues to chip away. TUF 29 champion is picking apart Gore, picking his shots to perfection. Battle has 3/4 times more output than Gore. Round comes to an end and they throw words back and forth before the ref splits them up.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Bryan Battle

ROUND 2:

Gore comes out with a sense of urgency straight away. Battle continues to pick apart Gore. Battle is always making the fist move, Gore seems to struggle to let the trigger go, but once he does it effects Battle. Gore lands a clean left hook and buckles the legs of Battle. This is better from Gore, he’s landed two good shots in this round that have troubled Battle. Smart game plan from Battle as he switches up the fight and implements his grappling. Gore takes advantage of a high elbow guillotine attempt and used it to get on top of Battle. Gore ends the round on top, a much better round.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Tresean Gore, 19-19

ROUND 3:

Last and final round here we go! Battles right is looking a mess. Gore shoots for a takedown and momentarily gets Battle on the mat. Battle works his way up and Gore lands a combination of the clinch. Battle is not the instigator and shoots the takedown against the fence, this is a very close fight whoever wins the last minute and thirty seconds will win this fight. Gore touches Battle with a big right hand over the top. Both absolutely letting it GO at the end of the round, Battle stayed the most active during the fight and the last minute  and I believe that will get him the nod. Close call though.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 Bryan Battle, 29-28

Official Result: Bryan Battle def. Tresean Gore via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
