Andy Ruiz Jr. hints at bout with Luis Ortiz

Former WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. hinted at a potential matchup against former WBA heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz.

Ruiz Jr. posted on Twitter and Instagram today asking fans “How many of my fans would like to see this fight happen.”

Ruiz Jr. (34-2-0, 22 KOs) has become a beloved contender in boxing’s heavyweight division. He rose to stardom after he defeated Anthony Joshua in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. After TKOing Joshua and winning the WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA titles he would go on to lose a rematch to Joshua six months later.

Since then, he defeated Chris Arreola via unanimous decision in May of 2021.

Ortiz on the other hand holds a professional record of 33-2-0 with 28 KOs. In 2018 and 2019 Ortiz met Deontay Wilder in the ring, ultimately losing both bouts via stoppage. In his last two outings, however, he collected two consecutive knockouts over Alexander Flores and Charles Martin.

If a matchup between the two heavy-hitters was made, it would likely push the winner close to a title shot as both men are ranked within the top 10 in multiple boxing organizations.

How would you see this bout going down if it came to fruition?
